Chang-dong Sanggye

The areas of Chang-dong and Sanggye will hopefully become the center of a new economy in the northeastern area of Seoul from the opening of “PLATFORM CHANG DONG 61” in April 2016, a “Generational Complex Multi-facility” that is scheduled to be completed in September 2020, and the “Seoul Arena” which will open in 2024.

Janganpyeong

Although Janganpyeong led the revitalization of the surrounding regional areas as the representative of the automotive remanufacturing industry in South Korea, it entered a period of business decline as the facilities and industrial structures became outdated, and thus, it
started its own urban regeneration project. In order to rebirth as the “Automobile+Culture Complex Facility” by 2021, Janganpyeong is leading the resettling of the existing automobile industry and vitalization of local industries. The “Automobile+Culture Complex Facility” will be consisted of automobile-related sales, business facilities, cultural facilities, creative spaces, public rental spaces, etc.

Seoul Station Area

Seoul station area is seeing a variety of urban regeneration project. Seogye, Jungnim, and Hoehyeon-dong were disconnected and stagnant by railway facility, but now Seoullo 7017 has re-connected these places by creating and expanding a pedestrian connection. Also, many projects are underway, such as fostering new local businesses, creating specialized places such as the Son Keechung memorial project, and revitalizing the local community by establishing focal facilities. A social cooperative for resident participation has been established and in operation to ensure a sustainable urban regeneration.
