Donuimun Museum Village

Location

14-3 Songwol-gil, Sinmun-ro 2-ga, Jongno-gu, Seoul

Facility Outline

The initial plan was to construct in the area of Donuimun Newtown after tearing down existing buildings. However, after recognizing its historical value as a first village which is inside of the west gate of Seoul Fortress Wall and as an area where it contains Seoul’s life and memory in the modern and contemporary period, the urban regeneration project was decided to remodel the original buildings. The entire village was reborn as a museum. It has become an attraction where the history and culture are still preserved through the Donuimun exhibition hall, which introduces the area’s history and regeneration, Hanok [traditional Korean house] facilities that provide an experience of traditional culture, and an analog space where many memories are maintained.
